SMD-P075 Planar Magnetics
|

SMD magnetics in our proprietary package
P075 (USA PAT. 7,129,809) are designed to be used in high
density and high
reliability DC-DC converters with up to 30 ADC rated output.
Typical applications are telecom, military, and aerospace
systems where high efficiency, low profile and high repeatability
are paramount. In addition to the tough electrical
specifications these magnetics have small footprints and
very low profiles, from 0.300" to 0.500". They
can operate without any
air flow for cooling and may be attached to a substrate /
heatsink with controlled temperature. Because of the unique
SMD
header/custom core combination, there is a direct thermal
contact between bottom of ferrite core and heat dissipating
substrate. Header also provides stable and precise co-planarity
of terminals on both sides of the package. P075 ransformers
can be customized for many power topologies, including soft
switching, single or multiple outputs, different switching
frequencies, and different input/output voltages. Multi-winding
inductors are also available. As an example, a family of
transformers for 200W forward converters operating at 250kHz
is shown below.
